Four people living with past scars are about to make a choice.
This compelling original work from up-and-coming Canberra writer Dave Temme, integrates poetic richness, live feed video, and an emotionally charged dramatic text to explore how we see each other and how we wish to be seen by others. A series of mesmerising vignettes invite us to witness the degradation of two relationships, the falling in and out of love, and the shifting apart.
You hold me and you say
You say, you want to say
The things that you can’t
That you should
But you don’t
Our Shadows Pass Only Once, developed through the Street Theatre’s HIVE writers program, is a finely crafted time shifting exploration of love, forgiveness, identity, and letting go from some of the best new theatre talent that has emerged from Canberra. Director Andrew Holmes takes a theatrically fearless approach using cameras and live feed video to excavate the tangled relationships, scenic designer Gillian Schwab imbues the visual world with a stark minimalist sensuality, and the work features a textured sound design by hellosQuare’s Shoeb Ahmad.
Our Shadows Pass Only Once is a beautiful realisation of desire, longing and release.
